List of Materials Needed:
pencil
thin cardboard or skirtex
tracing paper or baking paper
double sided tape
strong sewing cotton
sharp sewing needle
fabric to cover the case
stitched fabric optional
sharp scissors for cutting cardboard etc
wadding used for padding
* always do your cross stitching first, so if you wish to do the front of the case with a pretty cross stitch, do this first.
* once you have done your cross stitch, place some tracing paper over the top of your cross stitch and trace a design to go around your stitching with a pencil to what ever design you want your scissor case to look...for example you may want to do a heart shaped case or a plane one like mine. Doing this will ensure that you will have the right size case to fit your stitching.
* next cut out your shape from the tracing paper.
*next place your cut out shape onto some cardboard and trace around it ...this will be your front and you need to trace 2 and cut out the 2 pieces of card board, and they must be the exact same size......this is most important otherwise your case will not work out.........i usually put both backs together and cut of any tiny edging that may stick out around my template.

.jpg)
* next place one of the fronts onto some more cardboard and firstly trace around the top edge so it matches the front **now before tracing the remainder, move your front template downwards like the picture below and now trace the remainder of it.......this will ensure that your front and back will match exactly but the back will have a higher length.
* cut out your back template and trace it again on some more card board and cut it out, you now have 2 cardboard backs .........place both backs together and make sure they both are exactly the same ...this is most important or your backs will not match later on...............
.jpg)
* now cut out your wadding to mach your cardboards, so you need to cut out 4 in total of wadding as per picture.
* now place the wadding onto it as per picture, the double sided tape will stop the wadding from moving about while you work.
.jpg)
* now place your cardboards onto some fabric and cut around it, ending up with the fabric a bit larger than the cardboard as per picture....**make sure your fabric is larger than your cardboard cox you need to fold the fabric over soon.
.jpg)
* now turn your cardboards over, so you have the wadding flat onto the bench, and the cardboard on top as per picture, now place some doubled sided tape on the cardboard as per picture.
.jpg)
* now place your fabric front down onto the bench so the wrong side is facing you, and now place the cardboard with wadding onto the fabric, the wadding is facing down, as per picture.
.jpg)
* now with your fingers press downwards and at the same time fold the fabric over onto the tape to hold it there making sure you have smooth fabric on the edges all the way round....remember you can lift the fabric if it does not sit right and try again if needed in order to get the edge smooth.
.jpg)
* and the reverse should look like this.
* do this for all four cardboards, note i have one with stitching on it therefore the fabric is different to the rest of them, if you have print on your cardboard, remember to always use the non print side of it for the front facing..jpg)
* below is the reverse of the above, you should now have 4 like this. Note one of mine has cross stitching on it, which will be the front of my case.

**always try to centre your cross stitch if your piece has stitching on it.

* now hold the two fronts together, making sure that the fabric covered sides are on the outside and the folded fabric and tape is all on the inside.

* now hold the two fronts together, making sure that the fabric covered sides are on the outside and the folded fabric and tape is all on the inside.
* now begin to sew the 2 edges together, try to hold the 2 sides very tightly and squeeze the edges a bit while you sew with very tiny close together whip stitches, and try to make them hidden also, both sides should match up exactly.........you can make a knot on the end of your thread and just keep pulling it till the knot slips inside the fabric and then begin to sew.
.jpg)
* do the same for the back 2 pieces, and now you should only have 2 pieces left, one is the back of the case and the other is the front of the case, both pieces have padding on both sides so they have a nice soft feel to them
.jpg)
* now place the front on top of the back like the picture below. Note how the 2 sides match exactly except for the top, where the back is taller than the front.

* you can make the back the same size as the front, but i think it looks better with the back taller than the front of the case.

* now begin to sew the back and front together the same way you did above, make sure you go through all the layers right on the edge, try not to go through the cardboard.

* once you finish sewing it, it is complete and should look like picture below, now your case is ready for use.............you can add trimming to the edge if you wish. I have left mine as is.

* note how thin it is.
